Statistics is a branch of Applied Mathematics which studies ways to collect, summarize, and draw conclusions from data. It is applicable to a wide variety of academic fields such as the Physical, Social Sciences, Humanities, Medicine, Commerce, Economics, Government and Industries.
Statistics Department was established in l998with 37 students and one faculty member.
From the inception period onwards, the department had grown leaps and bounds to reach the current strength of 5 faculty members with 600 students.
The faculty of the department serves various other departments by way of teaching allied and elective courses and providing consultancy services.
The Department of Statistics helps the students to acquire the conceptual, computational and Statistical tools for the department has
produced many outstanding students with university ranks and excelling in their chosen fields.
The ambition of the department of Statistics is to provide exciting academic learning facilities not only at UG level but also at PG/PHD
levels through dedicated teaching, ideas to create a stimulating class room environment and attractive Social atmospheres through
choice based credit system provided by St.Joseph’s institution.
The salient feature of the department is the practical training both manually and computer based system is given to the students.
